Personal Details:
My name is Dina Mahshi-McWashington. My family proudly calls Woodland home as we've built a life rooted in community, faith, and service.
Professionally, I spent 25 years in corporate America as a communications manager, supporting some of the nation's most recognized Fortune 500 companies. While I truly enjoyed the strategic and creative challenges of that career, I came to realize I couldn't see myself retiring in that role. I wanted my work to have a deeper, more direct impact on everyday lives.
That desire was deeply personal. In 1994, my only brother was involved in a devastating accident right here in Woodland. He was 21 years old at the time and ended up on life support. I will never forget the moment when the nurse asked my parents whether he had a Power of Attorney or a Medical Directive in place. My parents were completely blindsided, like many families, it had never even occurred to them to prepare for such a moment. Tragically, my brother passed away, and that moment has stayed with me since.
Over the years I have shared that story to educate others about the importance of advance directives. But in 2023, I decided to take it a step further and become a commissioned Notary Public. My work now centers around empowering families, especially parents of young adults turning 18-to prepare essential documents like Powers of Attorney for finances and medical decisions. My mission is to help others avoid the confusion, heartbreak, and legal uncertainty my family faced. This is more than a profession to me-it's personal.
